I sometimes think of the boards on GR as being a bit like a sea anemone , the threads are the tentacles and the words we "speak" to each other are the food.

Then some " stinker " with a stick comes along and pokes the anemone and it withdraws into itself ( hence the quietness ) , stinker gone and in awhile the anemone stretches out again..................
