That's reminded me of something similar

On my last first aid course, the trainer told us that when you're doing CPR if you sing "Nelly the elephant" to yourself (or out loud!) once through the song gives you the required 30 chest compressions at a nice steady rhythm.

We looked great, about a dozen responsible adults bouncing up and down on blow up dolls singing Nelly the Elephant !!

SueM, i have never hard of this before, but what a brilliant idea. The children were not in the least bit embarresed, and just got on with it.

Something in my little brain says that the health department advised washing hands for the length of time it takes to sing Happy Birthday through TWICE.

This was to try and prevent the spread of swine flu.

That is fantastic Julia!

What a great way to get children to wash hands properly after going to toilet. Will try it with my own grandkids. Thanks.

I was in the public loo at the hospital yesterday, and a mother with two small children were queuing in front of me. A loo came vacant, so the two kiddies went in, while mum held the door. Then, another came empty, so I went in. I heard the children come out and go to the sink. Then they started to sing 'Happy Birthday' It appeared that the mother had taught the children to do this, as the length of time it took to sing through, was the length of time to wash their hands. It was so funny, I could not help but smile, making sure the children couldn't see me. OH, waiting outside, thought there was something wrong with me. I just found it so funny.
