how about this one
Orphan Working School & Alexandra Orphanage in London.

This orphanage was founded in 1758 and was situated in Maitland Park, Haverstock Hill, North West London. It was renamed the Alexandra Orphanage in 1923; was evacuated to Reading and became the Royal Alexandra School in 1944

There's Barnardos and also the McPherson homes that took children from the East End of London. My grandfather lost his first wife in 1905 and his three children went into a McPherson's home they lived in Poplar .
I believe Barnardos hold the McPherson records now

Hi Wendy,
Not really, but for anything London-based, I always start at the London Metropolitan Archives.

Hi Wendy,
I believe official registration of adoption didn't start until 1927 so there may be no records for the years you want.
