Help please with information on Marriage Certifica

On my mum's marriage certificate her father is marked as deceased. Did they have to produce a death certificate or was it just their "say so". |

No you do not and did not have to produce a death certificate. At least you know he died before the marriage, many do not have deceased on them. |

Sometimes people lied. If the person getting married needed parental consent because they were under 21 and didn't have it, they sometimes said the father was deceased even if he wasn't - just to complicate things further for you!!! |
