Frederick, for years a statue to Florence Nightingale stood outside the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, in the middle of Derby itself,as a tribute to her contribution to medicine, and the fact that she lived in the county for some time. However, the hospital has now closed, with all facilities moved to a new purpose built, super dooper hospital on the outskirts of the city. Nowhere have I seen that the statue has been moved to the new site. When I am in there again, and I'm sure it won't be long, I will ask the question about the statue, if only for my own curiosity. Maybe that it was too costly or not in a good enough condition to be moved. Who knows |
