At last, things are starting to come together!
The cheque that was reissued yesterday arrived today, as the original one should have done - next day delivery, and I went out to pay it in and passed a charity shop so popped in and found an Estee Lauder holdall, in cream and beige which is just slightly smaller than the measurements for hand luggage so will do the job. I just cleaned it and it looks like new, all for the grand sum of £2.50, it's a bit like a large hand/shopping bag so should be ok and I could even use it if we go out on a day trip too instead of a handbag. I found a bright pink leather purse/wallet as new for £1.29 which will be easier to spot in my bag than the black one I have which is starting to fall apart so have helped Age Concern too and have more things ticked off my list!

Feeling lots more relaxed now, thanks for all the support etc

(Also got 12 yards of good quality brand new curtain lining which is something I have been meaning to get to loose line some curtains, the whole lot cos £3.99!)

Cabin allowance is 5 kgs and we have 20 kgs worth each for hold, it's not the weight, it's the size of the cabin luggage which for Thos Cook is 17" x 11" x 9" The case I was going to use was fine for Ryanair stipulation two years ago, why can't they have a uniform size !

Just went round and had a weep and a natter with my neighbour so feel a bit better now, I was hunting for another holdall I have and was ploughing through a mountain of stuff I have hoarded, my ocd room, and it made me feel sick at seeing all the things I have. I am trying to remember when I last used the holdall, I couldn't find it so will have to go out and get one the right size! It has to be able to fit my handbag inside too as you can only have one piece of hand luggage on board - so stupid.
Wish I could just fast forward to next week and be already there lol

Hi Liz, what is the cabin allownce for T Cook then? I thought all airlines had increased the cabin allownace to compensate for the low hold allowance these days.

Purple, the things you say are the kind of things that have always put me off holidays! I,d now rather stay at home and have a couple of good days out. Jude and I are hoping to hit the garden centres in Newent on Tuesday, so I hope it doesnt rain.

Shoot me!

I just went to pick up the tickets for our hols and find that the hand luggage bag I used for Ryanair two years ago is too big to be used for Thos Cook regulations (hand luggage)

I went to the Sorting office to find out the likelihood of my cheque arriving tomorrow and got ticked off by a bloke in the queue behind cos he was in a hurry to pick up some parcels, but did find out that there is supposed to be a 90% chance of the letter arriving Thurday or Friday, if first class. I am assuming they use 1st class or they wouldn't say it will be with me next day so please cross your fingers it arrives so I can bank it before I go. Now have to go and dig out from beneath a mountain of stuff, my other holdalls and see if there is one that is the right size.

I did get my hair cut and that came out ok but boy, am I stressed, have hardly slept for over a week, waking every couple of hours and feel awful, couldn't care less now if I go on holiday or not!
