Some shops refuse to sell eggs to kids round here...especially around halloween. But that is surely down to parental guidance...or lack of it. |

We don't just hand pocket money out ~ our kids have to earn it by doing chores and if they want anything they save for it, however grandad puts money into their account reguarly for them to make "wise purchases" which my daughter recently chose to pay half toward her trip to the trenches in France and now she is doing odd jobs to get 20 Euros together she also gets money for goals (courtesy of uncle M) and the other two get extra for helping at uncle M's although they love him so much they would do it for free he has no kids and likes to "spoil" all 9 of his nieces/nephews a little |

On the other hand, when my son wanted the latest adidas trainers, costing £105 ....back in 1995!!!!....I flatly refused to buy them. There was an enormous row, but we agreed in the end, I would give him the money towards them, what I would be prepared to pay for trainers, and he would save and pay the rest. I put in £25 and he got a job and earned the rest, working in a pizza shop at weekends. |

mine are only young, but H was eyeing up an "animal hospital" thing the other day, reduced to 1.48 in the supermarket, she pointed out, ever so politiely that my mum had given her a "whole five pounds" to spend......so I let her buy that, and we bought O some dinosaurs...! most money goes into their money box, and eventually into their savings/trust fund.. |

Now when it came to money given for birthdays etc, I would ask them to put half away in the bank, and they could use the other half for what they wanted. They did this, and ended up with £10k each when they left home. I'm so glad I did that, because I had nothing at all LOL |

We do ..............our youngest goes nowhere unless one of the family is with her, so she buys what she wants with a bit of guidance from whoever is with her if she is about to get something unsuitable. |

Do you want to know what your kids spend their pocket money (allowance I think its called these days), or is it given on the understanding that it is their choice what they do with it? |
