Well, If she is pregnant she is due today - No signs of baby bunnies yet though.
I know that the doe usually pulls out fur from under her chin to build the nest with - and she does look a little bare in that area as if she has pulled fur, But we cannot see it in the cage. Would she have burried the nest in the hay (there is quite a lot in there as we decided to keep her outside)does anyone know? I don't want to dig about too much and upset mum.

We saw them 'do the deed' so im sure she must be pregnant. Thing is my boy bunny is very young and to be honest we didn't think he was old enough - Just 12 weeks, But he had a damn good try! lol

The cage is position up against our house at the moment but I did think about putting her in the corner to protect a little more. I must admit though that itis always very warm in the cage.
Mum and dad are seperate already.

I may be having baby guinea pigs too - My 'boy's' hutch got broken in the week so we have had to put all 5 piggies together untill the weekend when we are getting a new one :-s
I have a feeling we may be a little overrun soon! Oh well - At leas twe are fortunate enough to have enough room to keep them all! lol

Hi Pat,
As a teenager I used to keep & breed Dutch rabbits. At one time we had 18 of them + the 3 does & buck.

Its ok to keep the hutch outdoors.
As said before ensure there's plenty of hay for the doe to nest with. Position the hutch with its back to a wall or fence, or in a corner to give it some protection from the wind.
On cold nights, we used to cover the front with a piece of roofing felt, fixed & hanging from the roof. With a wooden baton fixed at the bottom to hold it in place.

Also, very important this. Separate the buck from the doe. If they're both in the same hutch when she gives birth, they will be killed by either parent.

Thinking back to childhood, I was never aware of my rabbits being pregnant. The first I knew was going to their cages and finding a nest full of babies.
The nests were always in a back corner, and the mother had built it out of loads of hay and also rabbit fur. The babies were more or less buried in the nest and so probably extremely warm and protected from the cold.

Do you cover the cage at night?

just make a space and put the junk on top of the cage

Yeah thats what I thought - But not going to be easy! Where do I put all my stuff from the shed, It is crammed! lol
She is due next Sunday as far as we know, So I want to get her set up ready this weekend, So that she doesn't have to much stress beforehand.

I've known rabbits to have babies outdoors without too many probs before....but they need loads of hay for warmth and a cover over the open part of their hutch at night to keep out any biting winds blowing in their direction.

My lady guinea is due her babies in a week or so and I've put her in the shed to be on the safe site just in case there is a surprise overnight frost...which this time of year can happen out of the blue

THE GESTATION FOR A RABBIT IS ABOUT 28 DAYS i think

I think my rabbit is pregnant, Well i'm fairly sure :-)
She currently lives outside but im worried that it will be too cold for the babies. I was wondering if I should bring them into the house or at least try to clear a space for them in my very small full up shed!
Does anyone have any experience with this who could give me some advice?
