I have decided to make the Delia Smith Creole Christmas cake that was in the Mail on Sunday a couple of weeka ago.

I have lined up the three tablespoonsful of port from a neighbour,and the same quantity of brandy and rum.The cherry brandy might be a bit more difficult,but where in Heaven's name am I going to get a teaspoon and a half of Angostura bitters?

We have scanned hundreds of UK shops to find the best deal for the Angostura Bitters (200ml) Cheapest in Tesco & Sainsburys Today! to buy and found 1 sellers that can offer this product within our Drinks category. The cheapest price we have found is £4.95. This is from a store called mySupermarket.co.ukin the UK.

You only buy a tiny bottle of Angostura bitters.I've got one in my wine cupboard but it's been there for some time!!
I think you'd get one from the supermarket or a local wine store.

If you have an Off Licence shop near by, they might stock it - with a bit of luck as a 'minature' size. I think it's used as an ingredient for posh cocktails/Martinis

It goes in pink gin,yum-yum,but it isn't half going to be a dear cake if I have to pay six quid for a teaspoon and a half that I am going to use!

Go to the pub, take a friend order two lemon, lime and bitters tell them to hold the bitters and put it into a small jar you have bought. You have a nice outing and a couple of drinks and you can go home with your bitters and make your creole.

My OH used to shove it in his lemonade drinks all the time and one night we were having dinner with my daughter and friends and the Angostura was on the table. We were all eating and he grabbed the bitters and put it on his dinner, strange looks from guests - he had thought he had grabbed the soya sauce.

Actually,I like it in lemonade.I might buy a bottle and then I will have to keep buying lemonade to drink it in.

This is going to be the dearest Christmas cake in history,Goddammit!

The best Cherry Brandy to get is De Kuyper, I get my dad a bottle every year, Christmas just wouldn't be the same without it!

Sharon,I'm with Persaphone,I've worked in pubs all my life,and know that,as long as you either buy a drink, or offer to put something in the charity tin,the landlord won't mind. Go early on when it isn't busy though or he's likely to tell you to bugger off.
