if you have trouble with unsolicited calls put your tel nos including your mobiles ,on the Telephone Preference service.
If you do get any calls ,then on telling them you are on telephone preference then they cant get off the line quick enough because businesses will be fined for contacting tel nos that are on the TPS list

thanks guys
get a bit suspicious ,
had a look but couldnt find out who it was

some time back we had a few calls that caused hassle, they were happening at night when hubby was supposed to be working but was home, and it was coincidence, cos the little creature that did it didnt reaslise,
however when he did for some reason he stirred it up a bit more and phone police too and got the armed response sent here saying he was us, phoning from mobile and threats had been made,
at first he used to put on an asian accent,
but we did guess who it was as we knew him from a child,

its made me suspicious eversince when phones silent like that, and you cant ring out

If you google the number, you may find it's a well-known telemarketer or scam. There are websites where info about such numbers is reported.

Unfortunately, BT on line doesn't seem to offer a reverse lookup function (Canadian and US sites do).

www.192.com does, but for a fee.

Googling

reverse lookup uk

finds some discussions saying that such lookups are illegal. Hmm. The answer does seem to be that there is no reverse directory on line, in any event.

Most likely, it was someone who got a wrong number and hasn't acquired the habit of saying "I'm so sorry, I must have dialed the wrong number!" It's like falling down in public ... some people are too embarrassed to be gracious. ;)
