and my four children (2 girls, 2 boys) are taking me and my 2nd husband out for a meal. They have been the most wonderful kids ever, and so, I am wondering, does anyone know of, or can compose, a poem to thank them for all for the joy they've brought me over the years, and to convey how absolutely proud I am of them and all they've achieved.
Tall order I know, but I am sure there is someone out there among all you lovely people who is talented enough to help me, or can suggest a poem that I can use.
Thank you all,
Jenny

Just done some googling what about this

Though You Are Grown
© Cynthia A. Sieving

I remember years ago,
you were so little then.
Sometimes,
I can't help but wish,
that you were small again.
I've cried when you've faced heartaches,
and saw, that as you grew,
nothing broke your Spirit,
instead it strengthened you.
I'm filled with mixed emotions,
as I hold back all the tears
and, with much pride remember,
back so many years.
When I first held you in my arms,
if only I'd have known,
the years would feel like moments,
after you had grown.
You aren't a child,
though in my eyes,
I guess you'll always be,
that baby boy who changed my life,
and means the world to me.

Thanks Barbra, I'm still 18 in MY head too lol. My kids are great, and already treat me like a queen. I had a heart attack in June, and one of sons drove 200 miles through the night so he could be by my hospital bed when I woke up! My two girls have gone through heartache for babies, losing two, and keeping on trying. I now have 4 new grandchildren! My other son tried and tried for the police force, and finally got in. He's just finished his standard driving course and is so proud of himself. When I think of the way some kids are today, I'm mighty proud of all of them.

Regards,
Jenny x

Hi everyone, just a quick update. Been for my birthday meal out and it was fabulous! All four children came from all directions, all the grandchildren, my sister and hubby, and one of my work collegues who's like a daughter to me. It's been a magical day.

Sheila, that lovely poem was received by my offspring with many tears!! I printed two out in pink, and two in blue, and framed them. I had intended reading it out but was too choked to do so. Thanks again for suggesting it.

Regards,

Jenny.

"You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good-bye.
Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry,
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you.
And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you."

Well, I am fine, no more heart attacks, thank goodness. Now have ten grandchildren, who bring me great joy. My eldest son emigrated to Australia four years ago, so I miss them, especially the two grandsons. I've been to visit twice, and spent Christmas with them last year, which was very different. Hopefully will stay healthy enough to visit again. All in all, the last ten years have been good ones. Hope everyone on here is well and happy too x

where did those years go
how did they pass us by
and we ask ourselves
does the mirror tall a lie
alas the mirror tells the truth
and show us our real age
but the inner self of the heart
hasn´t reached the same page
