LOL = Laughing out loud
BTW = By the Way
IMO = In my opinion
IMHO = In my humble opinion
PMSL = p***ing myslf Laughing
FIL = Father in Law
MIL = Mother in Law
SIL = sister in law
BIL = brother in law

H*********K = h...h...house....that domestic cleaning things, a known swearword and banned on this site
I*****G the de-creasing of clothes with a lump of hot metal, also a banned word on this site LOL


And before it gets asked, nudge is simply adding a reply to bring a thread up to the top of the page again. Usually the reply is just 'nudge' or 'n'.

All these things help to convey the mood in which the thread is posted, as we don't have the smiley faces on this site.

Oooo you can put a little smiley of your own

A wink is done with a semi-colon ;-)

and nearly everyone uses OH for their Other Half - but I tend to quite often resort to CB as in Cheeky Blighter.

I didn't know i****ng was banned, Fiona AKA Ruby is always doing hers.

There's a thread called LOL and lol which I've just nudged up the boards. About the 3rd post down someone's put a list of loads of abbreviations and their meanings. If you bookmark it you can look back at it while you spot new ones you don'k know.
