Christmas

It’s Christmas, it’s Christmas, the bells are all ringing
And somewhere up there in the cold frosty air, the angels are singing.

Santa and sleigh are probably speeding
Delivering presents that, fundamentally, no-one is needing.

While snowmen are melting, and reindeer are pooing
People with chimneys too small for old Santa will no doubt be suing.

The trees are all plastic, the tinsel’s too brash,
And the fairy and glitter and presents and cards are all so much trash.

Credit card bills they’ll spend six months regretting
Rushing to buy all those last minute things with such panic and fretting.

Mince pies by the million go home with the shopping
Far too much food and far too much drink and no-one is stopping.

The magic’s all gone, it’s all a bit sh*tty
And while all the lights and the trees and the streets are terribly pretty
The reason behind it has faded away
We ought to rename it Consumerist Day.

You've hit the nail on the head there Mrs Grumpy ....sadly .

I've been making presents for this year and do you know , it brings the " magic " back ......not sure how they will be recieved but I'm hoping it is with happiness .

I took my knitting to the Drs today ( seemed a better idea than looking at the stupid magazines that are normally on offer to while away the time ).................anyway ....I felt a bit conspicuous to be honest but just got on with it............I'm sure I could feel a hundred eyes a staring at me ( the waiting room was packed )..............I felt like a display item !! I really did......lol
