Hi Somerset Girl

Many Thanks for the link to the site.

I managed to get the following from the site and another that was linked to it:

Extract from the London (Edinburgh) Gazette:

War Office,

3rd J.me, 1919.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the«undermentioned rewards for distinguished service in connection

with Military Operations with the British Forces in the Balkans : —

AWARDED THE DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL

9652 Pte. W. McEachrane, 12th (S) Bn., A. & S. Highrs. (Campbeltown).

He is also recorded as being in the 2nd Batallion on his Medal Card.

3136 SUPPLEMENT TO THE EDINBURGH GAZETTE, SEPTEMBER 24, 1919.

GOLD MEDAL FOR VALOUR. - DECORATIONS CONFERRED BY HIS MAJESTY THE KING OF SERBIA.

Order of the White Eagle.

.3652 Private William McEachrane, 12th Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (Campbelltown).

The order of the White Eagle was instituted on 22.feb 1882 by King Milan I as the former principality of Serbia became a kingdom. It was awarded for outstandig actions and merits towards the king or the country. This breast star is from a GC set and it's one of the rarest varieties

I got a good bit to go on.

Once again - Many Thanks

Tina
