Lol Janey.... no, they were legally married, I have a copy of the certificate, in the late 1830's.... although they may have been telling fibs to the registrar!... however..... my gt gt grandmammy on the other side wasn't such a good girl! lolol

And..... shhhhh..... don't tell a soul.... but I have a little suspicion about one of my gt grannies... I have a feeling she may have been running... well, you know, one of those places! ;¬))

Ha, Daff, Sarai also married her deceased sister's husband!

Except ... back circa 1830-40 (I forget exactly), that wasn't allowed: marrying one's deceased spouse's sibling / one's deceased sibling's spouse.

So my grx3 grandparents lived long and happily in sin.

I'm wondering about yours. ;)

Digby Hunt... I love it... his daughter was Laura, fine, she was my 3xgt grandmother.... her sister was called Venelia... be careful how you say it, but I do love the name... Venelia went on to marry Laura's husband when Laura died... and her niece/stepdaughter (my gt gt granny) loved her enough to name one of her own children after her.... most of the rest a pretty boring... oh, Thamazyn, forgot her.....

Love

I can tell you my nephew's favourites. ;)

He didn't know quite what to think about having a grx3 grandmother named Dorcas.

But then we was quite taken with having a grx2 grandmother named Alice Cooper.

I rather like my grx3 grandmother Sarai (sometimes Sariah). A different name from Sarah - since she had a sister named that.

My lot are mostly boring........Williams, Mary Anns, James' generation after generation.......apart from one.......Sargison Dracass.......his first name was his Mother's maiden name.......sadly he died young...... also in my Scottish side they often use the surname as a maiden name...... i.e. Crawford McKay ....... a distant cousin......
