Personally I have more of a problem with chuggers. Don't feel guilty about not giving, no one can afford to give to every charity. |

Sorry, it's a term used for 'charity muggers', those people who accost you in the middle of the street/come knocking on your door asking you to sign up to a regular direct debit for whichever charity they're 'working' for. |

Thanks! We get a lot of them door knocking round here. They are mostly young people with loud, confident voices. They say something really daft like 'I don't know if you've heard of us' whilst they're wearing an RSPCA t shirt! |

I don't have any objection to charities employing paid workers. They need to in order to keep running. However, from what I've heard about these chuggers is that they are like salesmen and earn commission on whatever people donate, via direct debit. I don't think they work for the charities directly but for another company who the charity employs to approach people, either in person or via phone. I could be wrong on that last bit though. |
