Trying to delete ancestors

You can delete from the top as well as the bottom.

However, you can't delete if there are multiple connections i.e. a top grandparent with both children and siblings, or from the middle of a line as this would leave an unconnected branch floating about in space, which the GR tree does not like, unlike programs such as FTM which will allow this.

This is consistent with what Daff found

It didn't with the other line.... I had to go to their youngest child, and then start to delete from there.......

So, it means either ask GR if they will delete them for you... or pop into each name in that branch just to see if they will be deleted, lol......

Lol

Sue, I just tried it on my gt gt grandparents, just out of curiosity.... and it worked fine.... even though there were descendants. BUT I have no siblings for those two at all.... so maybe that was why...... I'll go and try on another line.... lol

If the people you are trying to delete have children, then you have to delete the children first then the parents,

Try going to the oldest person on that branches' wife.... Joe Bloggs wife... click on edit and then delete... it should come up something along the lines of this will delete the husband of such and such a woman... then click ok.... then do the same for each child... it might be the wife you have to click on each time, where there is a wife, of course.

Thanks Daff
I've tried to do it but it says it cannot delete a person who has multiple relations.
Any ideas

hello Sue and Paul.... you start with the oldest person you want to delete...... and work back to where you want to keep... so if you want to delete a branch that has the first entry as Joe Bloggs 1652 he goes, then his wife, siblings and children, then down the next generation.....

sorry, not making much sense!!

But I don't know how else to explain it... it is a bit tedious to do, as well...

I have put a branch of my tree on the wrong side and need to delete it. I have been in touch with Genes and they have helped me move it to the right place. They have told me that I need to delete the unwanted branch from the bottom up, which I have tried but it's not working. They removed me and my husband from the branch this morning but everytime I try to go further it won't let me.
Can anyone help, I can't be the only one who has made a huge error on their tree .
Thanks
Sue and Paul
