Could you please put me in the right direction for obtaining baptism records so i may establish who my 4th great grandfather is and his actual date of birth

Mark, if he was baptised there still may not be a date of birth recorded - all depends on the parish clerk who was doing the recording. Familysearch.org is free to search and have a lot of transcribed baptisms and marriages - otherwise it depends where he came from as to whether the records are available online. If they aren't, you need to visit or contact the relevant county's Records Office or a local family history society who often have transcripts of the registers available to buy. Do you know where he was from?

It depends where and approx when he was born. You may not find his date of birth, but may find his baptismal date.

First stop would be the IGI on familysearch.org......look for extracted records as they are transcripts from the parish records.

bmdregisters.co.uk have some non conformist UK records. Free to search, but pay to view.

A lot of parishes have their records on line, and FH groups have transcibed others onto disc which can be purchased.

Freereg.org.uk are transcibing PR - worth a look.

If he was born after Sep 1837, then he might have been registered and the record could be found on freeBMD.org.uk (England and Wales). If you can find the GRO ref, then you can order the BC which will give his dob and details of his mother and father.

If you need help, it would best if you start a new thread on 'Records' or Trying to Find' askiing for a look up. A number of people have sources which they can research for you.

Give as much detail as you can.
