A friends gt granddaughter is called Xanthe.

Freya,,,is a lovely name, and maybe will get called Fee,,,,,,,

I was going to call one of my daughters Freya - 29 years ago - but she wasn't born on a Friday.
Ex wanted to call a boy Django! Much as I like Django Reinhardt's music, it's very difficult to say 'D' is for Django (pronounced 'Jango') LOL
So glad we had two girls!

My Daughters name was very fashionable when she was born in 2000....but when i 1st heard of it in about 1970 i was 8 i don't think it was...well going by Ancestry it wasn't


That's funny Amanda, as my Mum said she would never call my son by his name as she hated it......can't said what i said to her on here though

Thats the ticket Birdsinanest..............names can always be shortened or you just choose a " nickname" for your Grandchild that suits you : )
Our daughter was going to call her baby Tyler if it was a boy ( it was a girl ....phew ) , I didn't like Tyler and had declared that I'd only be calling him " Spud" if a boy.................lol

I suppose whatever the parents choose the future friends will shorten it.

I have never been known as 'Jan' though, only Janet. My grandma called me Janny but she was the only person to do so.

I have a grandson called Isaac; I suppose his mates will call him Zak when he goes to school.

I agree Birdi - Xavier is rather tough for a little boy.

Helen - I have a Spanish friend and her sister is called Mercedes. Rather a common name in Spain I think.

I like my grandchildren's names. They will take them easily through childhood into adulthood.

Oh, dear, are there a lot of Eve's? I didn't realise; thought I was being original as Eve was the First Lady!

My daughter has red hair as does her sister and me so baby may be a redhead too!

My Granddaughter ( Daisy ) has a friend called Freya ( she has lovely red hair and looks very Norse.........lol )

Just googled. Freyja was a rather nice Goddess and it means 'noble lady'.

Eve is more common than Freya lol.

Youngest has two Eve's in her year but not one Freya xx

I knew a little boy called Maximillian years ago. The name was bigger than he was!

Eva - now I do like that name! Also Eliza but my daughter is Elizabeth so she wouldn't consider it. Like I said, though, it's not my choice this time!

My neighbour's Granddaughter is Freya, and maybe my daughter will have that for her baby if its a girl.......Eve, Eva and Evie are also fashionable names......

Only one of my three children has used an older classic name.......William ..... the rest have chosen more modern names......

A Norse Goddess? It's getting better.

Freya is a gorgeous name and would suit a young or older woman. I was introduced to a 7 week old baby at a family wedding called Xavier.
