Can only manage 4 Uggers......on my side we are not long-lived.....

I cannot go past 4 generations however up to the age of 15 (an only child) I was so lucky to have my 4 grandparents and my maternal gt grandma living and as we all lived in same area I more or less saw them, in turn, on a day to day basis.

My maternal grandparents were living when my children were born and my mum, now in her 89th year and still very active, has the pleasure of seeing her 3 gt grandchildren growing.

How I wish I had been doing my family history when my gt grandma was alive...I just have a couple of questions to ask..no skeletons...just curious lol.

What's really sweet, Uggers, is that over Christmas, my grand daughter's homework (grand daughter is now 7) was about WWII. My gran was evacuated from Southampton (with my mum and uncle - who was a baby) and I showed her letters her gggran had written to her gggrandfather during this time.

.......actually my grandmother may have been a great great great grandmother.
When I was 16, two of my cousins got married, and they had 6 year old and 4 year old children.
....Not too close to them - so don't know......

We have 5 generations alive at the moment. My parents both alive, in their early 80's. Hubby and I in our 60's, six children between us, 16 grandkids and one gr grandaughter.

Havn't come across it in our ancestors though, most of the women died in their 30's, men in their 40's, usually in horrific work accidents. Very few of them lived to see their grandchildren.

Some people say that hard work dosn't kill you, but I know better!

Till 6 weeks ago we had gtgt grandparent linage,,,,,,,,,infact weve just grafted photos to get the fuller picture........

My Father had Great grandchildren....he died aged 83 and if he had lasted a little longer as some do, he would have had great great great grandchildren and maybe gggg grandchildren.


I take it back...just done a recount........Five generations from my Father through my sisters family ( I am very much younger of course )

.We have a photo of my grand daughter aged 6 months, sat on the lap of my grandmother - her great great grandmother - aged 98.
Also have a photo, taken on the same day of my grand daughter, my daughter, me, my mother and my grandmother - all 5 generations in one shot! :o)
We weren't particularly young when we had children.
Gran was 26 when she had mum, mum was 26 when she had me (the youngest of 4), I was 24 when I had my daughter, and my daughter was 22 when she had my grand daughter.

Sadly, gran died a year later - aged 99

- My grans great aunt died in 1947 - she was over 100!

Nephew and his partner were nearly 47 when they had their 1st baby...So there's time for the others yet, I guess.

My Nan was my last grandparent ...and she died about 2 yrs ago now xx

4 generations alive at a time is the most we have had, when my Mum was still alive.
She was well into her thirties when I was born, so that cut the chances somewhat.
My paternal grandmother died aged 39 and her grandmother died aged 37, so no chance with them :-(

Got some oldies still alive on OH's side, but the youngsters aren't producing the babies. So I don't think we'll be seeing a 5 generation group here.
