It would be nice, Teresa:) I know a family with five generations all in the female line and they were in a local paper - unfortunately they were all pig ugly so the effect was lost a bit.

Hayley, you should make a great great grandmother cos I know you were a young mum what with having grown up children and you only being 20 something *wets self*

We could possibly get five generations, my mum's 72, my grandaughter is 9. In 12 years time, if she follows the rest of us, she'll have had a sprog...lol

Now THAT will make a fantastic photo.

My side had popped their clogs cos I was a mistake and therefore late in Mum's life!!! I only knew one grandparent.

Looking back through tree there are a lot of four generations but if I go sideways there are longer living rellies. As they are distant I don't really count them..lol

My youngest will make us grandparents this year but she is 29 and we are about 60 so with the trend of having children later in life now I can't foresee too many multi generations in the future. Shame really.

Teresa, I only had one grandparent and one step grandparent - let alone any greats. OH's family tended to marry and produce very young though. Good that you remember her even if she didn't know you.

Not sure about five, but we have several photos over a few generations, my Grandfather, Gt Grandfather and Gt Gt Grandfather being the earliest, the latest take last year with my mum, me, my son, and two grandaughters.

I remember my Gt Grandmother well, sadly she had Alzheimers for most of the time I remember her and hadn't a clue who I was, but we didn't get a four gen photo with her sadly. She died in 1975 aged 98.

Must be a lot more common these days, Sue. OH's great grandmother was unusual in the family living so long and outlived all but two of her children.

Can only manage four and that included my children and OH's grandma.

Have you had many examples of five or more generations of a family alive at one time? Just been looking at OH's family - he knew his great grandmother very well - she died in the 70s in her nineties and she had great great grandchildren.
