Don't feel insulted,Brian,it's obviously a cultural thing.

Well, we haven't got "women only" carriages on the underground yet: but I don't rule it out.

I suspect that if I got on a train garbed up so that only my eyes were showing I'd end up at the wrong end on an anti-terrorist squad gun - and probably dead.

The lady in question spoke with an English accent to the children, so she was either of Arabic origin (although from what I could see she may have been green) brought up here or a convert.

That explains it Brian - the tent, I mean - you were obviously a threat; a MAN!

Take it as it is; modern living.

BTW; my son will never take a seat on a tube; he says they are unhygenic!

I personally prefer men sitting next to me, because they are not usually wearing half a bottle of cheap perfume.

As for the lady wearing a tent with slits, if they are so uncomfortable living in our culture, one wonders why they want to live here in the first place.

Shelly has cracked it: she was wearing a tent with an eye slit.

But I still felt that I was treated as something unsavoury !

She was lucky she had a seat at all. I usually have to stand on the tube.....!

Dear Brian

Hello

No, she seems daft.

if she does not want a man to sit next to her, she should take a board
saying "don't sit next to me.............I offend people!"

When you pay your fare, you don't pick and choose who shares the seats.

Now, if you had sat on her knee and started to serenade
her...........well that would have been different!

Take care
Best wishes

If she felt there was something not quite right about you, don't you think it was very odd to put one of her children next to you instead of herself?

I'm not a man, but I would have felit insulted! I would have felt like saying 'Do I smell?'!!!

You don't know her story, though. Maybe she sees men as a threat.

I'm sure you're a very nice chap, though :-))

I got on an underground train yesterday and sat down next to a woman.

She very pointedly got up and changed places with her son, one of six children travelling with her.

It was patently obvious that she did want a man sitting next to her.

I felt as if I was being accused of being a potential threat.

Was I right to feel that way?
