Wednesday. 17th February. 1926.

Beware drink, drugs, and the evil weed, girls told.

Feb 17th...Modern young women are turning to drink and drugs in a desperate bid to cope with their hectic lives, a doctor warned today.
Dr J. S. Russell told the Institute of Hygiene that an abnormal life-style of nights of frivolity followed by days of excitement, coupled with the poisons of tobacco and alcohol, strained the nervous systems.
"Scarcely has the age of 20 been reached before the lines that belong to a woman of middle age have become evident in such girls" His words follow a recent warning from another eminent doctor, who condemned the current craze for the willowy figure.
Such women with dangerously thin figures, could increase the risk of being ill with consumption.
