Dear All

Hello

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent and occurs forty-six days (forty days not counting Sundays) before Easter.

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of repentance. The ashes used are typically gathered after the Palm Crosses from the previous year's Palm Sunday are burned.

Churches used to stay open on this day for quiet reflection.

If you are going to a service today, travel safely.

Take care
Very best wishes
xx

Went to church this morning. Quite a few there and there is another service tonight for those who may be busy during the day. Very peaceful and reflective. Thanks for the thread Elizabeth. Cx.
