Please can someone tell me if it is safe to re-freeze meat once it has been cooked - as in a Lasagne
Thanks,
Liz

Hi,
I always make double portions when cooking, especially chilli con carne, spag bol, etc, use two portions and freeze two portions.
Same with any curry I make whether chicken, beef, lamb or veg.
Cook 4 , freeze 2.
Always freeze any extra rice.
Never had a problem.
Save time, money and effort.

Yes you can freeze cooked meat dishes, make sure you cool the dish quickly though don't leave it around too long before you freeze it.

Is it safe to freeze when cooked as the meat had already been frozen when raw

Yes Liz it is safe to freeze cooked meat that has been frozen before cooking. Just take the same precautions as you would fresh meat.

Hi Liz

Never had a problem.

I buy fresh meat in large portions eg, 10 lb cut chicken, 10lb mince etc.
Take it home, bag it into meal size portions and freeze.

When ready defrost, cook, eat / freeze. Always freeze any cooked dish as soon as cooled, as Ann said.
