If this is a hoax, why did the confirmation email come back from the No.10 petitions site? Wouldn't the fact that it's untrue be noticed and the petition refused?

Maybe Jacqui Smith (Home Secretary) should get one if she goes outside her front door without an armed Special Branch minder.

(She admitted a few months ago that she did not feel safe walking the streets after dark)

This is another hoax. MPs aren't receiving official campaign medals.

It's another wind up petition with no truth behind it. Don't get sucked in condemning something that isn't actually happening. Notice the petition lacks any references or details.

I imagine it's loosely based on the fact MPs can receive an unofficial medal reward for 10 years' or more membership of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS), a body which allows politicians to spend around 22 days a year with the military. So far only 8-10 MPs have served the minimum 10 years.

Julie Ann thanks for forwarding this. Liz thanks for the link, I signed and forwarded to my friends and family. Some who have or are still in the services. It's disgusting that our loved ones are there living this every day, in danger of their lives, and some MP can go visit and get a medal. Those medals are worth no more than a chocolate one!

this is a site to sign a petition to voice your protest at them getting a medal for just visiting places like afghanistan , to chat to our forces, and we pay for these medals , when our own lads arent so quick at getting thiers, and have to fight daily against terror with bravery, and when injured have to pay for treatment abroad in some cases,
