I love a good cuppa, (but I must admit I am a bit fussy about what brand I drink), and I agree it does taste better out of bone china. Grandad would only drink tea out of bone china, and he would have it so strong you could, as mum used to say, " stand the spoon up in it."

Mine would only drink it out of his saucer. I won't drink tea-bag tea if I can help it. We all have pint mugs and alimentary canals that are furred up like an old tea pot.

Julie Ann,

I so agree with you! I am holding a kitchen tea for my niece and am using all the pretty china cups and saucers that I have collected over the years. They are all different sets but the table always looks so pretty with them and cakes and a nice teapot.

They kind of make you slow down and appreciate the drink and the company - which is probably what everyone used to do before the life sped up so much!

I drink tea out of a mug but I too don't like the inside of the mug to be coloured for tea or coffee. I am not a great tea drinker, probably only have one or two cups a day, the remainder of my drinks will be coffee or peppermint tea. Always use tea bags.

I love a cuppa tea from getting up to bed time. Like Tetleys in a large mug. Don't like it weak so I sometimes put two bags in the mug.

My mum always used those dainty bone china cups and saucers. They used to cost half a crown each cup and saucer set on the market. I can see that market stall with all the china in my mind's eye, even now. Dad would never let her use tea bags; he said they only contained the 'sweepings'.

When mum moved into her retirement flat after dad died she used tea bags for convenience, but still used the china crocks.

I still have them; they're in the china cabinet taking a well earned retirement.

I drink tea out of any kind of mug but I will admit to preferring the one and only china mug mum left me!

NOTE TO SELF: I must buy some more!
