Hi, I have done a search but can't find a thread about this. Anyone else on here trying or planning to stop? Might be good if there was a bit of support going on.
I have been cutting down drastically and my last fag was last night at 9pm. Using Champix which is certainly far easier than cold turkey but still very, very hard.

Wendy, I wish you every success.
Cutting down isn't stopping.
It's a conscious decision, a choice to stop.
After a week it gets progressively very much easier.
Ive been off them nearly 16 years, went cold turkey.
Decide to be a non smoker then become one, because it is an addiction! Wills and Gallahers etc know this.
Think of your heart and lungs, think of your purse.
DECIDE to quit and do do it.
GOOD LUCK

i went in to hospital for a minor op in January and promised my daughter I'd stop. So I did while I was in hospital. No pills potions or patches, just a promise. It only takes three days to clear your body of nicotine and from then it just gets easier every day.
The first thing that comes back is your sense of smell and believe me, cigarette users STINK, I can smell them from several feet away. If nothing else that has kept me nicotine free. Remember it is a drug, a highly addictive drug, more addictive even than heroin. So hang in there girl, you can beat it.

I stopped seven years ago after losing both parents prematurely to smoking related diseases, also went cold turkey, the only aid I used was a book on giving up smoking, I still have times when i feel like i really want 'just one' but have so far resisted. People who stop smoking are ex smokers not non smokers and can and do go back to it even after stopping for several years, nicotine is more addictive than heroin, not many people realise this. Best of luck to you.

I wonder, has Wendy been an ex smoker since February?

Hope so, and hope it wasn't too difficult.
