When you have ten ins of snow on your garden, it will look as neat as everyone else's.

Easy way to kill anything that grows is to get me to look after it.

My dad, grandfather, even my mother had green fingers.I seem to have flamethrowers.
How,exactly,do you get those easy to grow on your windowsill pots of herbs to do just that?

As you may gather, I'm gardening on a budget.

I've thought of attempting to grow potatoes in a bag this year, using an old multipurpose compost bag.

My question is, should there be drainage holes in the bottom of the bag?

edit - someone has kindly PM'ed me with an answer

yes put holes in the bag if growing pot's, the best thing is empty out about half the bag put in potato, as it grows fill in around it until all compost is used, keep well watered but not over water as the pot's will rot.

If only, Dizzi, if only - lol

Thought of another one.

Plant markers - either for seeds or pots.

Cut up light coloured strong plastic bottles. Wash well, cut into strips and write on them with an indelible marker such as a DVD/CD pen.

The writing will fade over the season and you can remove it to reuse the markers with a scourer.

Put nettles in a container of water for a few weeks or so , then put the juice in a spray bottle. to zap bugs

Use cardboard egg cartons to sow seeds in. Cut off the lid to make the base. Make a tray out of foil to fit and they can be placed on a window cill to germinate.

A large clear pastic bag will make an indoor propagator.
