Me again, has anybody noticed that although we are having smaller print,
delete messages are still printed in the old larger print. why ?

I have 3 ads on my .co.nz site. They are NZ ads, but not very intrusive.

Hi SylviaIC, I now have two little ads. One on the left of my screen just below the Boards Summary and one right at the top above the Genes Reunited logos. Hardly notice them except when the naked man is there.

Well it's a bit hard not to look. I wonder if he gets an itchy nose if he will move his hands.

Neither Friends Reunited nor GR are now carrying any ads except for themselves

FR had the virus problem a couple of weeks ago, and it was found to be connected with one of their ads. GR has had the same problem during the same period.

BUT FR depends on ads for the money to run their site ....... it is a completely free site.


so where are FR and GR getting the money from?

Yes, Elizabeth, it still fits the page, but I wouldnt want the print to be any smaller. I used to have it on Larger but having to go to Largest means either my eye sight has got worse or GR have reduced the size of the print. What happens if my eyesight deteriorates or GR reduce the size again? GRRRR.

Yes, Julie in the Buff, that was what I first thought. The size of the print is definitely too small if two of us thought that.

So would a larger, wider monitor make it easier if I enlarge the print even more, i.e. no need to keep scrolling from side to side? Only problem there is that it would take up a lot of room.

And there was me thinking it was our new computer and OH not taking on board I liked a bigger font.

Aren't Center Parcs + Littlewoods wasting money by having adverts at the bottom - how many of us scroll down that far?

Clicking add still adds your message at the end, not in between postings even though the box opens there.

It was like that after I held control and + to enlarge the print. Not that it was all that big, and the scrolling was annoying. I went back to what it had been and then went to page>text size>largest to get the print back to what it was originally, but I used to just have it on larger. No need to scroll sideways though. Typing in this bottom 'add' box is about the right size for me and it is almost twice the size of the print on the page. I will have to ask GR if they are going to provide special specs for us.

Why do they tell us twice, once in white print and once in black on the green band at the bottom about being #2 site? And why do the 2 lines at the bottom have some words overlapping?

Why do they always need to mess about with this site?

The Add link used to send you to the top of the screen, so you could type in a reply. This current one will give the person (especially to newbies) that where they'd clicked on Add. It will insert their reply in between the two postings.

I can see this causing all sorts of problems on TTF etc

Oh heavens. You are so right. All my ads have disappeared completely. Did not even notice there was no flashy, jumpy, colourful garbage. Oh lovely.

Those who use the ad blockers and other web browsers are probably laughing. You don't have this trouble do you??


So. Let's imagine what the next big change might be. The whole page covered in ads and the GR screen is a tiny little box in the top left hand corner. Relax, just doing a hypothetical. You don't really think we will be adless for long.

By the way right now I am on .co.uk instead of the .au version.

I dont recall doing anything to cause it, BUT
I dont have an ad in the banner box at the top of page OR down the left hand side.....i'm on the .za site but they USED to be there......

Island - it's GR tinkering (exactly the word I used.) It doesn't affect any other website.

AuntyS - that's the problem I referred to with enlarging the font. The page numbers are still there -- they're just not visible.

You have to use the scroll bar at the bottom of your monitor to shift to the right. Then the entire width of the thread and content is visible (and the categories over on the left side aren't visible). And you have to do this for every thread you read.

All my page numbers in the little boxes have disappeared.

Why do we have these changes on GR

Because it gives us something to do. Makes it fun to be able to second guess their next move.

Must be working look at the number of people talking, arguing, commenting and trying out different ideas.

Testing, testing. Ooooh look it is big!!!

GR home page is all messed up again this morning everything in a list on the left hand side. Also note the change at the bottom of the screen GR is now number two no longer number one.
