Is there another site similar to Ancestry where I could pay by cheque as I don't use cards? I e-mailed Ancestry about this and have had a reply telling me about vouchers giving ten look-ups that have to be used withing fourteen days. Not what I wanted.
I will be going off line soon but will be back tomorrow. Thanks, May

Did you contact Ancestry.co.uk - rather than Ancestry.com? I think there's a phone number somewhere on the site for them - might be worth ringing them.

Findmypast could be worth a try as well.

I opened a number 2 account at my bank with a card for use.

I pay £10 per month into it and use it for certs etc from the GRO - and the odd book from Amazon.

I reason that if anyone did manage to get access to it via the internet there wouldn't be much in there that they could help themselves to. So that could be worth considering - then when you need to renew a yearly sub just transfer the money over the day or so before and ping it off to Ancestry or whoever.

Thank you all for answering. I e-mailed to the address given i.e.
ancestry.co.uk([email protected]).

I think I have got as far as possible with each of the four families but would just like to find out a bit more about them and thought I may be able to do this by joining Ancestry.
I like to idea of a separate account solely for paying subs, don't use credit cards at all, but getting more difficult to pay cash these days and lots of places won't take a cheque as you may well know.

I will also e-mail Findmypast
