Seem to be having trouble for couple of days getting searches on Ancestry. Is anyone else having problems? or is it me!!!

Me too, I keep getting a spread up saying they are doing maintanance.

Probably digging the roads up,everyone else is.

Check back soon, but how long is soon. Just got a way round a problem I had and now need to do some searching, it was okay yesterday. Not sure what maintenance they are doing but can anyone see any difference.

It seems to be when they say maintanance, they mean a change to lay-out and anything else that enters their mind. It wasn't broke so why try and fix it. Seems to be the same old story again

Perhaps they are just stuck for something to do! When is soon anyway, before midnight or after???!!!

EDIT: I think soon maybe now, I just got on a census

You would think they would have the decency to inform us before hand of what is going on and maybe refund some money. It did not even say there were problems, just we cannot find this person etc.,..

I was thrown off Ancestry just after 6pm tonight and it is taking ages just to search for a document in the 1901 census. Have just joined Genes and don`t think I am going to renew Ancestry.

Ancestry did have a warning about maintenance on their home page. Supposed to be for Thursday of last week and this week. I haven't been on the site this morning. Off to have a go and see what they've done.

Edit. Well that was quick. Yes I have all the messages about the family tree tool and checking back later. Must be some changes being made. I am on the Ancestry.com.au version. Goodness knows if that makes any difference.

Sorry, everybody, it is probably my fault! I had a 14 day free trial (I cancelled it after 9 days) and I put 18 new trees with my sister, her REAL husband and her parents on. They are probably trying to decide whether to leave them or wipe them. Doesnt matter if they wipe them as I have decided it would have been better to have put up trees for her alleged spouse with Medusa Snakehead as HIS spouse instead of my sister. But I would have needed to put up 200 or more trees for it to become the 'hint'. I decided it wasnt worth the effort.

DONT trust the 'info' you find in trees on Ancestry. If you type into search Tui Mary Bettany and see what people have for her you will see what I mean.

You can only search censuses not family trees and it does not fill in the details like it normally does if you have a tree on there, when you are searching for anyone.

AND it is oh so SLOW!!!

Just been on Anc. and everything seems to be OK

Is anyone else still having trouble? I can't get the census searches to work this morning.

For me nothing is working, just we cannot find the person you are looking for.
It just aint good enough is it.?

It seems as though some searches are working, others aren't.

e.g.

If I search the Census using the UK Census Collection search page (the one I normally use) it returns no items.

However, the Search Census & Voter Lists Records page does work, although it is of much less use as it doesn't have the same variety search criteria.

I suspect the search indexes are being rebuilt for some reason so we will just have to wait while it gets sorted.
