Please see the result of the vote.

We have a runaway winner and three tied for second place. I really can't go through all the chasing of people to have a re-vote for second choice so I am going to say read the winner and your choice of the second book.

Please remember the idea is that, unless there is a good reason for not being able to do so, the book to read if you only read one book is the winner. Otherwise it is pointless us voting. If you really can't get hold of it then take one of the others.

For future reference could you make sure that the books you choose are easily available and in paperback, remembering that we also have members in Australia, New Zealand and France.

The review date and suggestions date will be Saturday 10th April. PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THE DATE.

I check availability each time, before I vote. Here in Oz, all those voted for are available through Angus & Robertson.

Noted, I will check with the library this afternoon as to whether I can get hold of Grief Encounters as it isn't available at the local libraries so hopefully it is on the interloan. I can find it on book online stores but I am in no position at all to spend any kind of money on a book at the moment.

PS I see four books in the list that have two votes each.

So do I Michelle but I will leave Michael Chricton alone - he sells well though.

Thank you once again Glossy Ann for doing such a good job at rounding us up - you could give Clint Eastwood a run for his money on "Rawhide"

Cheers

Apologies Michelle for missing your book, I have added Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton to the list, makes a bot of a mockery out of it now really, I should have done a second vote, however I have noticed not many people read two books a month anyway.

Incidentally if anyone else would like to take this over I would be quite happy for them to do so.

I went to the Library today, expecting to have to request books from our list. First I looked for Grief Encounter .... and it is on the shelf.
Then looked for The Independence of Miss Mary Bennett , wow that was there too. Now just for fun, I hunted for Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, couldn't believe my eyes, there it was, waiting for me to pick it up.

I also found (when I wasn't looking for it) The Glass Painters Daughter. (it wasn't available when it was on our reading list), so I got that too, as I had really wanted to read it.

The only books I couldn't find were Pirate Latitudes and Once in a Lifetime (bt Cathy Kelly).
But very happy with my trawl.

Ann, it wasn't all disappointing today as you can see!

If you can get the Cathy Kelly I am sure you'd enjoy it, not that it looks as if you will have time to read it!!! And you will really enjoy the Glass Painters Daughter, great book.
