£9.25. That's about 32%.

Well, they will have a rush of applications during March to deal with ...

I bought my first cert from GRO in about 2000/01 at £7 so an increase is probably well overdue.

Just means that you will only get 3 certs for what was the price of 4 certs.

Assume it means that the service will be improved / speeded up? LOL

look at it another way, its the cost , for a piece of our personal history, for the same price as 2 packs of cigarettes, 2 bottles of wine, between 2 and 3 takeaways from McDs... If it had gone up more slowly over the last couple of years it would perhaps have been better, and I know it is frustrating when you can't afford...but it is a 'hobby' not an essential, even if it often seems the other way round lol.

£10 to find out who your gt gt granddad was doesn't seem too much to me?

At Leeds City Council Register Office the Certs went up last November to £10 if you want to collect the certs, but people can phone or post a request for a cert and still pay the £7.

They tried to tell me it is Administration fees, Yeah right,,,,They still have to doe the same search on the index and type the cert out and post the cert.

While I was there the other week another woman tried to tell a guy that the price had gone up because they had broke away from the GRO in Southport.
What a load of C**p they are just making more money for Leeds City Council..

Yes, it's steep

...................... but the price hasn't changed since I ordered my first certificate from them back in 2004

so it was about time for an increase.

Maybe they should have made smaller increases years ago, then we wouldn't all feel so mad about it.
