We've had some good rain this week too but probably didn't need it as badly as you obviously do, Tan.

Which way are you Tania? We need the rain here in the southern Coromandel too, the sky darken this afternoon but that is all that happened so far. Everything is so brown with the lack of rain.

TaniaNZ Report 2 Mar 2010 08:55

yes it has Hayley,its wonderful
Every blade of grass on the farm is brown the cows have been dried of for months we have been buying water and the council had just announced that the water carriers would be rationed.
The town pool has been shut because they cant replace the water and the fire risk has been huge so we are thrilled

I am a real townie because I was really suprised about the cows being dry, never dawned on me that even though its been uncomfortable the heat that would effect your crops but I assumed that your use to that and grow stuff accordingly and it would effect your income but the cows being dry for months that must have a hughed effect on your income.

TaniaNZ

TaniaNZ Report 2 Mar 2010 09:43

yes Hayley if you cant feed and water cattle properly you cant milk them without causing them harm so you dry them off to conserve there energy.
They will all calve in the next couple of months and OH will be back in to milking again
It was a fabulous one thankyou Joy and thankyou Sue maid for sending it down I willl just pass it on to Michelle
