Have just looked for dates when the uk census was taken - and it says the 1931 census was destroyed by fire... Does this mean the whole of the 1931 census or just parts |

Yes it was Mark, during the war, but not due to bombing. I read an article that they were thinking it may have been a fire watcher discarding a lit ciggie...........but no evidence |

your right ann ,1931 c was burnt ,1941 was not taken ,so we have a gap from 1921 to 1951 with no census,i pity those who come after us trying to sort it out. |
