Thanks for your input Rose & George. Sadly niether of the Noah's you put forward seem to fit the bill, so I will keep looking. I have had a reply from The Corps of Commissionaires requesting more info and I am awaiting a reply. God bless. Dave.

Hi,
I had a look at military records and found only one Noah Smith.
I found his short service Attestation to the Royal Engineers dated 10 December 1915 at Pontyclun.
Number 175495.
He was assigned to Clipstone camp.

His occupation listed was a Sanitary Pipe Fitter.
His age 34 years.
Not sure if it is your person.

If he served in WW1 his records may be on the Ancestry website. Bear in mind, though, that a high proportion of the service records were destroyed in WW2 so they may not have survived. If you don't have access to Ancestry, if you post his details then I'm sure someone on here will have a look for you.

I am trying to find anything I can about my Grandfathers Army service. I have his name - BC-MC & DC His probable address at the outbreak of WW1 and a photo of him in his uniform when he was employed by the Corps of Commissionaires in Manchester. Where do I go from here please?
