I recently ment some one who had one of the above. She said you can get them in A***S at about £30, but in the larger supermarkets from about £14.99. Has anyone any experience of them, and how much did you pay. I thought it would be a handy thing to have for when I am in hospital, as all the wards in our new super dooper hospital do not have televisions.
Thanks

Hi Julia

I got mine a few years back when they first came out, so was really quite expensive then (£100).

Even the cheapest ones nowadays should give you a good sound and picture quality........you just need some headphones though so you don't disturb anyone else :-)))

Thanks Contrary Mary, I did see the person wearing ear phones.
I may have the oportunity tomorrow to go out, and had thought of having a look at them. I wanted to see which are the most reasonably priced.

Just been and bought one of these from T**co. It was £49.97, with double points on the card. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but by the time I look round for a cheaper one, I'd be back in hospital, and regreting I did not buy it. OH has just had a 'play' with it. Men and toys!!!!
Anyway, I am rather pleased with it.

Edited to say, Kemp, you can't take flowers into our new super, dooper hospital either, though I have seen them for sale in the retails outlets there. Perhaps they are for the maternity wards only.

Hi Julia

Glad you got sorted. :-))

I often use mine when OH is watching the footie (or some other such rubbish LOL) and I can sit and watch a film, or catch up with a series like Lark Rise to Candleford on DVD.

Hope all goes well for your hospital stay and that you're not in there too long.

Hope you get as much pleasure as I did out of mine, Julia.

Just as an aside.... the rule about flowers is actually a sensible one, only we never realised it before... as it decays, they can let off little fungal spores... for those who are seriously ill, and with a poor immune system as a result, inhaling those spores can, and does, lead to aspecific fungal infection in the lungs... which is extremely dangerous, very difficult to cure, and the cure itself can kill.

I heard a lot of visitors complaining quite nastily to the poor nures on my ward.... and we weren't even allowed grapes, apples etc.. only fruit that needed to be peeled before eating!!

One visitor of a lady in the bed opposite me smuggled a pot of daffs in this time last year... on the principle that if they were in, the nurses would allow them to stay... but I was seriously ill in the bed opposite, and her stupidity could have been all that was needed to tip me over the edge and send me off to my maker.

My mum and 3 sisters were with me.... and all either are nurses, or were nurses.

The daffs went.... one of my sisters took them outside the ward, down to the reception, and handed them in there, to be collected on the way out.

I was mortified when I found out!
