Dear All

Hello

Today is International Womens Day. It is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements.

Women in the UK fought very hard to obtain the right to vote.

It was not until 1928 with Representation of the People Act 1928 that women were granted the right to vote on the same terms as men.

A step forward today as Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to receive the best director oscar for "The Hurt Locker"
at the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony.

Hi Elizabeth,

I was informed of this tonight by a Russian friend, I must admit I had not heard of it before tonight.
As he is a member of a band comprising three ladies and himself, he must have been informed!
