Probably got the mix not quite right. Fudge and toffee are very alike in the ingredients. |

jean i got a bit nervous i was frantically dripping bits in cold water but didnt know what it was supposed to do then i left some on a spoon and i thought it was ready then the phone rang so i tipped it in the tray, i take it it would have frose by now lol so its fudge now then ? |

The bits you dripped into cold water should have set hard before you put it into the tray. |

I haven't made it for many years, but I remember that it set almost immediately and whatever consistency it was within a matter of minutes (as it cooled down), that's how it stayed! If it didn't set hard, we referred to it as "stick-jaw". |
