I've just spent the better part of an hour going through my Hot Matches deleting loads that are obviously not connected but have e-mailed about 10 people with possible connections.
It got me thinking that I can't remember ever being contacted by anyone else in this way and that from about 40 possibles that I've contacted, I think I've had about 2 replies.
Are Hot Matches a complete waste of time? What do others think?

No I have been in contact with several 3rd cousins, think they can be good.

Hi Red Lady, in one year I have been in touch with two 2nd cousins, and one third,and possibly another in Oz this week.

Surely if you find only one in a hundred it is worth an hours work, once a fortnight. After all, it dosn't cost any extra.

Hi Lady in Red, I must have been quite lucky most people I have contacted have replied. Know what you mean though I can think of several I really would have liked an answer from but they have not replied. I have on hot matches someone who has 105 matches I have not contacted them and they not me, feel there is probably not much to find out.

Bob, it probably is down to how serious/dedicated you really are about finding out about your past.

Over the years, I've had a number of good contact. Some connected by marriage, not blood but also a few cousins.

You never know who'll one day contact you & the info that they may bring.

Also its pointless deleting unwanted matches. GR does a data base search (each month I think) & they'll just reappear in the next batch GR sends to you.
