Hi, how do I transfer my genes information onto Legacy file? What is a GEDCOM?

Look on the bar across the top of this page,
Hover on "FamilyTree", a drop down menu appears, click on Gedcom. Follow the information there for exporting a gedcom.

Once the email arrives at your home computer. Click on the gedcom attachment and save it onto your computer (remember where you put it)
Open Legacy
On the top bar, click on "file", from the drop down menu find "Import from", move sideways and choose "gedcom file". Follow the instructions from there. If you already have a tree in Legacy, don't add this Genes one to it, choose to start a new tree. You can then open each version you have from the File menu (File, open family file, and choose which one you want)

A gedcom file is just a way of transferring information from one type of family tree software to another. The information in that file is just computer gibberish and you can't open it to read it unless you import it into a software programme such as Legacy or any of the many others which are available
