does anyone know if you can find out who lives in a property without the owners finding out that you are wanting that information?

Christina, a few years ago, I wanted to know the name of some neighbours down the street. I went into my local Council Offices, and asked for the Electoral List for that area. And ,low and behold, there was the name and address I was looking for.
Dno't know if things have changed now though.

Electoral lists should give you names of people eligible to vote.
I'm not sure where you can view current ones. Our library no longer holds them for public viewing.
People can of course opt out of the list open to view.

hi julia and gwynn, thanks for your info. my only problem is the house i want info on is about 800 miles away and couldnt access local records from where i live. however it has given me food for thought,so thanks for you help.

secret red squirrel, its just someone that went away for a long time and im curious to know if they have come back.i dont actually want to make contact just to know if they live at their previous address.
