A wonderful discovery for you, but it does worry me about the long term survival for the really old records.

If they insist in hanging on to them, surely they would be safer in a Bank Vault?

YOU SHOULD OF SEEN THEM

I HELD HAND WRITTEN BOOKS FROM 1600

AND THEY WERE IN A OLD SAFE
BUT THESE BIRTHS ARE NOT REGISTERED IN THE COUNTY

SO THE ONE YOU WANT COULD BE IN A TINY VILLIAGE
HALF WAY UP A MUDDY TRACK NO ROAD OR PATH........

BUT THE COPPERPLATE WRITTING WAS BEAUTIFULL

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT

Wow Dizzy, that was lucky. Some of my family are from Somerset and the records seem to be in Archives and not online. Other counties however have put so much info online.

IF ITS A BAPTISUM WEDDING OR BURIAL AND YOU KNOW WHERE ,JUST AN IDEA
LAST YEAR IN SOMERSET WHEN WE MET UP WITH A AUSSIE FRIEND WE WENT TO A CHURCH YARD LOOKING FOR A GRAVE,
BY CHANCE THE VERGER WAS THERE AND HE SHOWED US THE PASISH RECORDS FROM 1600 BAPTISUMS.............
(OH SO FANTASTIC).
NOT HANDED IN TO THE RECORDS OFFICE,,,,,,
AND NOT RECORDED ANYWHERE EXCEPT IN THE CHURCH.
