I wondered if any kind soul out there could recommend a nice meal I can cook for OH for his birthday this week.

Nothing too complicated. He's not a fussy eater and eats most things...just fancied doing something a bit different for a change and make an effort.

I'm going to make him a Coffee cake (yuk but it's his favourite) so the dessert is sorted.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Ta muchly x

Just a quick reply Muffy, until tomorrow, but how about good old Prawn Cocktail, but jazzed up, followed by yet again good old Steak and Chips, jazzed up, followed by you Coffee Cake. I managed to make a Coffee and Walnut Cake on Saturday, and just got it iced and put in the cake tin, when I had to call the Paramedics, with my usual prob. Can elaborate your meal for you tomorrow, as awf now for tea.
Good Luck, Speak Tomorrow

PS. I can come and do abit of Silver Service for you LOLOL

Yes please Jane. I am collecting recipes at the mo so anything I don't use I may well go for in the future.

Prefer to have recommended recipes than just googling and taking pot luck xx

how about one of my favs..

STARTER
prawns in a prawn cocktail sauce (homemade with mayo, tom puree, lemon, dash or two of tobasco) wrapped in slices of smoked trout, served on a bed of salad...

MAIN

Fillet steak, spread the top with pate, wrap in puff pastry, bake for 20 mins or so, serve with saute potatoes...(can serve with a peppercorn sauce...) and veg..

OR as a main, stuffed peppers. Cut in half 4 peppers (2 each) or cut tops off and use as lids...
Fry off some minced lamb, add garlic, tin of chopped toms, tom puree. Add Harissa paste (tsp)..cook, let it cool, and add to peppers, cover with foil and bake for 40 mins...(you can make the meat up the day before if ya want)..serve with spuds or whatever you fancy...
