Yes I watched it Pat...... I saw the last one that author hosted as well about Myra Hindley.......it is on ITV at 10.35 on a Tuesday......

I have seen this one before on Sky, but they are so well done it is worth watching them again........it just showed how easy it was to dispose of people all those years ago........luckily the law was starting to tighten with regard to baby farming.....

Glad we live today.....

I hadn't heard of her before but they did say how she changed her name to avoid detection. Forgot about the census. Must have been a shock for her daughter as Amelia said she didn't know.

I missed that Pat! I have read the book many years ago, if I remember rightly I picked her up on a couple of census returns 41,51 and then she married a Mr. Thomas I think, and I lost her.....and of course she then used lots of names!

She was born in Gloucestershire as Amelia Hobley.

Did anyone see the programe on Amelia Dyer (baby farmer) last night on ITV it certainly gave an insight into the conditions in the 1800's that women with illegitimate children faced. She murdered loads of babies. Hard to believe what some women can do. Poor little babies some starved to death others throttled.
