Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 19 Mar 2010 15:59

I remember going to the 'pictures' and watching Davy Crockett, my bro had a furfabric hat made up - not sure if my Dad made it or where it came from, and I think it's still knocking around somewhere, maybe in my son's toybox unless it is in a box from my Mum's which is still unpacked.

Childhood memories...

Rest in Peace 'Davy'

Not really into Crested.

Did try a few years back with half - circular crested and also Tufted crest. Not very successful

I mainly stick to Pieds and color variations. Yellow face blue Pieds this year gone., and yellow faced opaline mauves....Season has just finished in Oz., as we head into mid Autumn.

Also, bred Pied Cobalts Opaline with a violet factor X Sky Blue Pied Opaline... and received some nice birds last year.

On the odd occasion one might Ummmm...."Borrow" .....a bush Budgie in Oz to build up a color strain ( wink )

Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry , Jim Bowie, Bronco, Roy Rogers, Rifleman, Sugar Foot,Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, Have Gun will Travel, Tales of the texas rangers, Broken Arrow, Bat Masterson, Maverick, Texan ,Swamp Fox, Last of the Mohicans...and of course who could forget...The Cisco Kid.

I have been to the Alamo - and Tombstone Territory.

My father went to the OK Corral and watched a mock shootout.
He loved it.

Fess Parker was my hero along with Richard Todd who played Robin Hood and Rob Roy in the movies and one of my all time favourites The Dambusters.

Sad isn't it although he lived to a grand old age.

I well remember the theme song to both shows, Persey. Does any baby boomer not know the words?

I remember watching the Davy Crocket show as a kid, and most Cow boy and Indian shows.

It was the only way my father could get me to go to bed at night.

He would say....O'k you Blahdy kids...off ta bed, coz i haffta empty all the dead Indians out of the back of the tele...LOL

We beleived him.!!!

I loved Daniel Boone used to watch it around tea time - him and his Indian mate played by Ed Ames ( who could sing opera as well and throw a mean tomahawk.

Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
With an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he.
Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
He was brave, he was fearless and as tough as a mighty oak tree.

From the coonskin cap on the top of ol Dan to the heel of his rawhide shoe
The rippin'est roarin'est fightin'est man the frontier ever knew.

Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
And he fought for America to make all Americans free.
What a Boone. What a wonder. What a dream comer truer was he.

Gosh we used to have some good shows in the black and white days.
Brings back Memories alright - my dad used to love the show as well along with Laramie and Rawhide etc.

Fess Parker Dies.

Fess Parker, best known for his roles playing Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone has died at the age of 85.

Fess Parker is survived by his wife, two children, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild

As a baby boomer, many would remember Davy Crockett shown on their Black n' White tele's in the late 50s.

Could never find a decent Racoon hat, so had to settle for a Aussie possum skin one

Thanks for the memories
