Actually I don't think I collect stuff, ...more it just ends up here.
Anything vaguely 'useful' is kept for future use.

We seem to be able to supply all manner of random items needed for props for school plays etc.
Last Christmas a walking stick suitable for someone of about 7ft 6 inches ( I kid you not ) came in useful as a crook for 'Joseph' to plod along with to Bethlehem....Where did that come from, ...no idea !

Managed to persuade son to take away his helicopter blade, that once was perched over his bedroom window.

I mean, ...every home should have one of those.

My Mum had a button drawer in her old Singer treadle sewing machine, it had 4 drawers and all sorts of treasures including the army buttons from my Dad's greatcoat and buttons from my Grandad's naval uniform and later coastguards uniform......plus palmtree buttons made out of coconut shell, old buckles, coins.....and Dad's army insignia .....

....they moved away and the buttons that I played with in childhood went to the dump I found out later.......what I am collecting now is old bits of costume jewellery with coloured stones and my collection of charity badges......you know, the sort, ones for kidney transplants, heart foundation, cancer etc......got loads of those...... and hope the kids or maybe Grandkids can see some reason not to throw them away.....

I love old cutlery and china. I have two sets of apostle spoons, a couple of lovely cake servers etc. I love setting the table for afternoon tea if I have friends coming over. I like to use my collections.

God my husband fits this bill. He collects everything, and I mean everything now has my grandchildren doing it, ie picks up elastic bands that postman throw in road. Seriously say I can't wait till he dies so I can get a skip (actually 6 so I can get rid of the rubbish he has collectted over last 44 yrs.) love him really.Carol
