I use Family Tree Maker 2005. Why doesn't the vertical decsendant line come from the double horizontal line between husband & wife. |

Presumably you are referring to the way in which a tree report is displayed? |

I think the line comes from the father if the children have his surname as it could be possible that the father's wife is not the mother of the children. |

Are you talking genealogy reports? If so, it depends on which parent you click on before choosing the genealogy report. |
