Have you got his contact details?

Even if advertising as a private seller - Trading Standards may have flagged him up as a commercial seller posing as Private. Worth asking local Trading Standards officer and keep an eye out for similar advertisements with the same contact details.

If it turns out to be a commercial trader there is a minimum "7 day cooling off period for any goods or services over £35". Put your dissatisfaction in writing to him NOW to cover yourself just in case you want to pursue it.

If geniune private seller little you can do but you never know..... did you tell him the circumstances? If yes - sounds like he took advantage of you; if no - perhaps he has a heart.

Sorry to say you won't get any redress as it was a private sale, presumably not misadvertised and you signed a 'sold as seen' receipt.

If you want to pursue it contact one of the consumer TV programmes, they may investigate for you.

Lady Puss, you silly old moo moo you. You came to Derbyshire, and didn't let me know. Well I feel right miffed. You could have stayed here overnight, as it must have been a long way back on such a miserable weather day.I know we do not have alot of room (you did say five of you). as we have an irracible Cocker and two Love Birds that hate each other, but we would have managed. Saturday night we could have gone on to Budgie Rustlers for a bevvy or two (he is ten mile down the road, and permits, passposts and visas in order, we would have got through), he's Nottinghamshire, and I do fogive him for this, and we are very territorial here. Which part did you go to.
But joking aside, you should have said. It would have been my first time of meeting anyone off of here. I am now having a scraite now into me porridge.Maw Maw.
Lots of the Best

Don't know your laws, but if you can get to the authorities quickly, check to see if a "cooling off period" applies in this instance. - but do it NOW! If it does, it might only be perhaps '3 days'. That's only a guess, but to show you to do it urgently.

Small claims Courts are very cheap. My daughter got the paper work to take out a case a couple of years ago, and it would only have cost about £30 to take to Court.

CAB can advise on the most recent charges.

From Martin Lewis' website

"With private sellers it's ‘buyer beware'

However buy second hand goods from private sellers and you've only a right that the product is correctly described and the owner has the right to sell it. Here it's caveat emptor or let the buyer beware. If the buyer says nothing and no description and you buy it – then that's it – even if it doesn't do what you thought it may – you were not missold. To be honest hon it doesn't sound very promising with what you've told us.

But as has been said...take the ad and any other documentation to the CAB...you never know they may be able to help.

Good luck my love xx

But what did the ad say, did it say good condition or just caravan for sale, was the ad misleading ?
as said c.a.b would be your best bet.

Trades description won't help

it was a cash sale from a private classified. That means buyer beware.

Sorry puss, but I don't think you've got a leg to stand on,.

private cash sale, receipt saying sold as seen, and the fact that you admit you didn't look properly.

But do check with the CAB as soon as possible..
